The problem

Everyone owns things.
Almost nobody knows what they’re worth.

01
The number you don't know.
You have a vague sense your belongings are worth documenting. But you don't know the actual number. $60k? $160k? $260k? Until you know it, you can't do anything with that knowledge.
02
The proof you don't have.
A break-in, a fire, a flood, a toolbox gone off a site. You'll be asked to prove what you owned, item by item. Without a record, the payout is whatever someone else decides, and it is almost always far less than what you lost. Often tens of thousands less.
03
The list you never made.
You've been meaning to photograph everything, make a spreadsheet, build a folder. You've been meaning to for years. Every method was too much work for a normal life.

You already know you should. You just never have, because every way of doing it was painful enough to keep putting off. That pain is the whole problem. WHIG removes it. Walk, talk, done.

How it works

Walk through your home.
Talk naturally. That’s it.

No forms. No typing. No separate photography. Just walk and talk. WHIG does the rest while you’re still in the room.

01
Announce each room as you enter.
"Kitchen." "Main bedroom." "Storage room." WHIG detects room boundaries automatically. No tapping, no chapter buttons.
02
Describe what's there.
Appliances, furniture, electronics, tools, art. Mention brands when you know them. Don't worry about prices. That's our job.
03
Pause on anything significant.
Hold the camera still for a moment on anything valuable. The better the look we get, the stronger the record.
04
We handle everything else.
AI identification. Replacement cost estimates from current retail prices. Timestamped frames for every item. Evidence Record PDF. All of it.
What you get

A complete picture of everything you own.

Free in the app. Anyone can make a list. The Evidence Package proves you made it before.

The things you’ve never valued

The number that worries you is the one you don’t know.

Jewellery, art, watches, antiques. WHIG will not guess at these. A number we invent is worse than no number at all. Instead it does the part you’ve been avoiding, so a proper valuation becomes easy.

Photographed and timestamped
Each specialist item is captured with a dated photo and your own description, a valuer-ready brief.
Told what's worth valuing
WHIG flags which items are likely worth the cost of a professional valuation, so you don't overspend.
Bring your own valuations
Already had something valued? Attach the certificate and that figure becomes part of your record.

Lost or stolen later, a dated record made before the loss is exactly what an assessor asks for.

Built for

Everyone who owns things
and hasn’t counted them.

Been meaning to for years

You've meant to document your home since you moved in. You're not lazy, every method just felt like too much work. This is the one that's actually easy.

Renter or homeowner who keeps putting it off. No judgement.
The one who doesn't know the number

Suspects the number matters but has no idea what it is. Knowing it changes everything, from insurance to peace of mind.

Homeowner with accumulated belongings, no inventory.
The tradie's garage

Tens of thousands in tools and gear, documented nowhere. You know what it's worth. Try proving it to an insurer after a break-in or a theft off site.

Tradie or serious hobbyist with real equipment.
The security-conscious one

Wants to know exactly where their inventory lives and who can reach it. Encrypted on your device, with a key only you hold.

Privacy-first. Reads the fine print.
The one without insurance yet

Seeing the actual number makes it real. Knowing what you own is the first step to protecting it.

Renter who hasn't got around to contents insurance.
The one who does it properly

Wants the receipts matched, the serial numbers logged, and the specialist items flagged. Treats their inventory like a project.

Detail-oriented. Receipt for everything.
Privacy

We see patterns.

Never possessions.

Your walkthrough is encrypted in transit and processed in an isolated environment. The moment your inventory is ready, it is delivered to your own storage and the video is deleted, within the hour, always within 24. Your inventory is encrypted with a key only you hold. We can’t read it, and it never lives on our servers.

A key only you hold
Your inventory is encrypted with a 256-bit key on your phone, stored in your device's secure storage. We never receive it.
Your storage
Google Drive, iCloud, or your device. We never store your inventory.
Video deleted
Processing files removed within the hour, always within 24. Your phone keeps the original.

If WHIG were breached tomorrow, attackers would find a list of room labels and cryptographic hashes. Item names, brands and values are never sent to our servers, so there is nothing about what anyone owns to leak. By design.

What it would cost otherwise

A professional does this
for $300–$1,200.

A qualified contents assessor charges $150–$300 per hour and takes 3–6 hours for a typical home. You need an appointment. You’re at home. It’s a stranger going through your belongings.

Recording and processing are free.

Concerns answered

The real questions
people ask before
they try it.

Most hesitation comes from a few places: wondering whether you could just do it yourself, not knowing prices, worrying about specialist items, and not trusting where their data goes. All answered honestly below.

You could, and a spreadsheet or a folder of photos is better than nothing. The difficulty comes at claim time. A record you made yourself is your own word, with no independent date on it and no way to show it has not changed since. That is the part you cannot make for yourself, so it is the only part we charge for. The inventory is free and comes from one walkthrough rather than an afternoon in every room. Your sealed record is signed and timestamped with a key you never hold, and anyone can check it at whig.app/verify.

No. And this is the most common misconception. Insurance uses new replacement cost, not what you paid. We estimate what it would cost to replace each item today using category averages adjusted for your country. You describe what you own. You need zero knowledge of prices.

We never guess at specialist items. Jewellery, original art, antiques, instruments, watches. We flag them for a professional valuation and add them to your Priority List with a recommended action. A number we invent is worse than no number at all.

Honest answer: during the few minutes of processing, in an isolated environment, the video is readable, because that's how the inventory gets built. The moment it's done, the video is deleted, within the hour and always within 24. Your finished inventory is encrypted with a key only you hold and delivered to Google Drive, iCloud, or your own device. Not ours. Our database only ever holds room labels and cryptographic hashes, never item names, brands, or values. If WHIG were breached, attackers would find room labels, not what you own. Full detail on the security page.

Absolutely. Renters own belongings too. Often with no record at all. Whether for contents insurance, a rental dispute, or simply knowing what you have, the record is yours regardless of what type of property you live in. WHIG works everywhere you live.

Nobody remembers everything. That's expected. WHIG applies household profile floors for items everyone has (clothing, linen, everyday items) based on what it infers from your walkthrough. You can always re-walk a space. The more you give it, the better the output.

It depends on specificity. A clearly named item (Breville Barista Express, MacBook Pro M3) is matched to a narrow category for a tighter estimate. A vague description falls back to a broader category average, adjusted for your country. Every estimate is labelled with how it was derived. Guide only. Not a professional valuation.
